Location: Chateau Malou, Allee Pierre Levie 2, 1200 Woluwe-Saint-Lambert.

Tax reforms are at the heart of Belgian political priorities. Reality or mere promises? In this climate of uncertainty, it is essential to act now to take advantage of current opportunities before new, more restrictive rules come into effect.

ISG and Pareto invite you to an exclusive conference on tax and inheritance reform. Discover how to anticipate and optimise the management of your wealth to protect it in a sustainable way.

Topics Covered:

1. What are the implications of these reforms, both positive aspects and potential side effects?

2. Which inheritance management strategies remain effective in Belgium?

3. How can we protect the surviving spouse while considering future generations?

After studying international relations, Vincent Garitte obtained a degree in finance from ICHEC, which he supplemented with a Masters in financial planning at the University Management School of Antwerp. After several years of experience in banks as a Financial Advisor, he joined Pareto’s team as a Senior Financial Consultant. Currently a Partner, he personally guides over 400 families in managing their financial situations.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

To attend this conference members and guests are requested to register via email to the.chox@gmail.com as soon as possible and no later than MONDAY, FEBRUARY 3, as exceptionally, refreshments will be provided by Pareto after the lecture, and the caterer needs attendance figures a week in advance.

A REVIEW:
ESTATE PLANNING: PROTECTING YOUR LOVED ONES WHILE MANAGING TAX COSTS
Mr Vincent Garitte

Key Considerations in Estate Planning:

When engaging in estate planning, two key questions must be addressed:

1. Who needs to be protected?

2. How much will this protection cost in taxes?

To ensure the right level of protection, various legal instruments can be used, such as:

  • Marriage contracts
  • Wills Donations
  • Accrual clauses

The Importance of Residency in Estate Taxation

One crucial aspect of estate taxation is residency. The region where we have lived for the majority of the last five years has the authority to tax our entire worldwide estate.

In Belgium, marginal inheritance tax rates vary significantly:

  • Flanders: 27% to 55%
  • Brussels & Wallonia: 30% to 80%

Estate Planning in an International Context

In an international context, estate planning becomes even more complex. Several factors must be considered, including:

  • Tax residency
  • Nationality
  • Location of assets
  • Country of residence of future heirs

A Tailored Approach to Estate Planning By carefully analyzing these elements, a personalized estate plan can be developed to both safeguard the people we wish to protect and minimize the fiscal burden.

Mr. Garitte remains available to ISG members for any further information. A private consultation, free of charge and with no obligation, could be arranged to address any general or personal questions you may have. This meeting would also provide an opportunity, if you wish, to review your overall tax, estate, and financial situation, and explore how PARETO could bring you added value or determine how PARETO could assist you.
